Amy Carlson

The family was born in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Amy Carlson spent most of her childhood in the Chicago region. However, when Amy was in high school, she and her family also lived in the Middle East where her parents, Bob and Barb, taught at the American School. Amy has two sisters, Betsy and Lori, as well as a brother Joe. Amy has traveled throughout Europe both with her family and also independently. They were both teachers and were able to travel and camp together every summer as a result of this. They've stayed in every state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy was also in Rwanda following the war in 1994 to aid in relief efforts. Amy demonstrated artistic talent early by participating in school productions, and taking part in writing competitions. In high school, she excelled as an athlete, placing in the first ever 3200 meter relay for girls in Illinois track. In college, after an injury, she was back in the theater with many roles on stage beginning with Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and also directing Wallace Shawn's "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy was an Knox College student from Galesburg, Illinois. She graduated with an B.A. East Asian history with a particular focus on Theater. After graduation, she moved to Chicago and pursued a degree in Improv at the Improv Olympic. She also studied acting at The Actor's Center. After graduation she was offered the job of a contract actress on the defunct soap opera Another World (1964). In the category of "Outstanding support actress on an Daytime Drama Series", she was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards. The most memorable of her roles were of strong women as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone in Falcone (2000), Katie Owen in Peacemakers (2003) alongside Tom Berenger in Peacemakers (2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods. Carlson currently lives in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and where she is also owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy is continuing to write as well as search for diverse and distinctive roles in the film industry.
