Rosamund Pike

Born in 1979 in London, England, actress Rosamund Mary Elizabeth Pike was the sole child of a classically trained violinist's mother, Caroline (Friend), and a singer father, Julian Pike. They worked hard for their families and she traveled extensively across Europe in her early years. Pike was born in Bristol and attended Badminton School. She then began her acting career at the National Youth Theatre. In a National Youth Theatre production of "Romeo and Juliet", she was first noticed and was signed by an agent. However, she continued her education in Wadham College, Oxford, where she took classes in English Literature, eventually graduating with an upper second grade distinction degree.Pike played in a range of UK television series such as Wives and Daughters (1999) prior to making her debut in a feature film as the stunning beauty "Miranda Frost" in the James Bond film, Die Another Day (2002); when the film was released in 2002, she was only 23 years old. The film that she made her debut was a high-budget action film. But, her subsequent film work was mostly in independent films like Promised Land (2004) and The Libertine (2004). In 2004, she won the award for Best Supporting Actress prize at The British Independent Film Awards. Pride & Prejudice (2005) featured Pike as one of the Bennet girls. Following the action movie, Doom (2006) as well as the action thriller Fracture (2007), Pike made a brief foray into Hollywood film. However, she returned to smaller films with exceptional performances in three movies: An Education (2008) and Dagenham (2010), and Dagenham (2010) and the lead role alongside Paul Giamatti in Barney's Version (2010). In 2012, Pike portrayed the role of Andromeda in the sci-fi epic Wrath of the Titans (2012). Alongside Tom Cruise as her female lead in Jack Reacher (2012), she returned to action films.
